Sometimes I think I’m dreaming And the World outside just doesn’t seem real Sometimes I feel I’m falling Thru’ the colours of night and the hope of day. And sometimes, I just want to wake up ‘feel the Sun and the light of a brand new day And always, I hope I’ll see you To find some comfort in the things you say. Of all the colours I can choose from I’ll pick the one That shows me you. And if I ever, think I’ losing I’ll hold on tight to all I have To the memories of the good times To the simmering light out on the wave My World is like the ocean It ebbs and flows and never keeps still And sometimes, it might brew a storm But I’m holding fast, and I always will. Of all the colours I can choose from I’ll pick the one That shows me you. Tony Floyd Kenna - 2012.

San Sabastian In San Sabastian, by the sea We Spent the Summer You and me. We drank Spanish wine And ate our fill Our hearts entwined We had time to kill. In San Sabastian By the sea We spent that Summer You and me. The days were endless And the nights were long It was like a Paradise Where we belong In San Sabastian By the sea We thought forever You and me. In San Sabastian By the sea We thought forever You and me. But storm clouds came We washed ashore With hearts apart There was love no more. In San Sabastian There by the sea We took our leave You and me. In San Sabastian by the sea We took our leave You and me. By Valerie Bowe & Tony Floyd Kenna 2012.

When the storm has passed and you got home at last How i miss you And when all has been said, i regret what’s in my head How i miss you It seems like a million miles now I never thought we would make it And if you just want to close your eyes now Days were dark, nights were long My thoughts were lost. I couldn’t hear your song What might have been, where had you gone Doesn’t matter now, after the storm The mystery of life, the jealousy and strife I thought love was supposed to be true The joy you give to me, to my very core I can see How I miss you So many things to get started Another chance is what we needed Forget all the times we were parted Days were dark, nights were long My thoughts were lost. I couldn’t hear your song What might have been, where had you gone Doesn’t matter now, after the storm Words by Tony Floyd Kenna & Jed McConkey. Music by Jed McConkey.

Done My Time I’ve done the crime Now I’ve goin’a do the time I’ve done the crime Now I’ve goin’a do the time But nobody’s gonna tell me That my life ain’t mine. I worked all my life I worked for thirty years I worked all my life I worked for thirty years & then one day they fired me I was close to tears. I lost my home Lost my family too I lost my home Lost my family too Saw some money on the counter Didn’t know what to do It won’t be too long Before they let me out It won’t be too long Before they let me out Gonna run to the ocean Gonna scream and shout I done the crime Now I’ve done my time I done the crime Now I’ve done my time Now freedom is the thing That tells me life is mine. BOUGHT & SOLD There’s a girl on the streets She’s someone’s daughter A sister, a mother ‘She knows she oughta Give it all up, give it a break But she’s been bought and sold It seems too late. There’s a child at home Lookin’ down the street Will his mother come soon ? He needs something to eat He finished his school work And he longs for a hug He just can’t understand There’s no milk in the jug. Bought and sold… When she’s worn out and faded Puts the key in the door Tries to bring on a smile ‘She hears his feet on the floor It’ll soon be his birthday They might watch some T.V. Spend a day with each other And pretend they are free. It said in the papers A girl was found dead At the side of the park From a blow to the head Seems she tried to get out Tried to give it a break But she’d been bought and sold It was just too late. Bought and sold….. Now the boy is grown up ‘He still wonders why She just couldn’t make it Why she had to die He had a hard life Goin’ from home to home And sometimes he felt like He was bought and sold. Bought & sold…. Sometimes he wishes…. Words and music by Tony Floyd Kenna. Copyright January 2012.

Alison Alison sits on the bridge Her hair un brushed, Her clothes unwashed Feeling tired and feeling hungry Her eyes show little hope ‘You have to move along now’ Says the man from the council ‘You can’t be in public view Or the newspapers will see you’ So, She shuffles down the street Cold, beyond unwanted Looking for a corner Where the World, won’t find her Alison, Daughter of our Nation Alison, Sister to us all Alison, Why does nobody want you? Alison, Alison, Don’t cry. Alison tries to get some sleep Wrapped in cardboard boxes Her boots have holes, you can see her feet I wonder, will she make it? Words & music by Tony Floyd Kenna © 2010

HEART IN A BOX. Well, she threw me a line But I kept sailing by Guess she couldn’t figure And she kept asking why But I ain’t doin’ that I ain’t feeling her love, no more. Yeah, I have no place to rest And no place like home But I’m feeling cool Now I’m in my zone Don’t tell me you care ‘Cause I know that you don’t, I know. So put my heart in a box Put the key on ice Gotta cut to the core ‘Cause it’s not very nice There’s just nothing to give Nothing to share no more. Well’ if she calls me up I won’t think twice I won’t say hello I won’t hear her voice ‘Cause she’s got nothing to give She’s nothing left, for me. So put my heart in a box Put the key on ice Gotta cut to the core ‘Cause it’s not nice There’s nothing to give There’s nothing to share no more. Words and music by Tony Floyd Kenna. Copyright 6/7/12.

DUST. She came to me in a cloud of dust Threw off her leathers with passion and lust Not a word, not a sound, just a knowing look She invited me to play in the coming dusk. The night is a cool place, a peaceful retreat A chance to unwind, to relax from the heat To drink some good whiskey with someone you know And share an embrace on some warm cotton sheets In the morning we’ll suit up, drive for a while Stop at a diner and eat lunch in style Full up and fuelled up we’ll take to the road Rolling like hunters mile after mile Ch. But what do we search for, what do we seek? Just two lonesome travellers on a steel beast I wish I could answer, I wish that I knew We’re just two lonesome travellers on a steel beast In the evening we’ll check in at a motel Strip off the day in a steamy hot spray Drink some more whiskey, the best we can find Sleep sound and dream of the coming day Yeah, She came to me in a cloud of dust Threw off her leathers with passion and lust We drank some good whiskey, drank all we could And rolled on like hunters in the coming dusk. Ch. But what do we search for, what do we seek? Just two lonesome travellers on a steel beast I wish I could answer, I wish that I knew We’re just two lonesome travellers on a steel beast. Hey, Hey, Hey. (Tony Floyd Kenna) February 2012. Hey, Hey, Hey….. I heard your song on the radio And I thought you were singing to me. I wrote a letter and sent it off Crossed my fingers and waited to see. I read his words on the note he sent I have to say I was blown away. It might be quick but I fell in love Perhaps too soon as some would say. Hey, Hey, Hey…. We may be Oceans apart But we can feel the Heart We may have never met.. But our course is set. Hey, Hey, Hey… I’m Just a boy. I’m just a girl. And we’re both feeling pretty good. Is it too soon? I don’t think so, It’s just new love and we’re feeling good. Hey, Hey, Hey….

Monkey on the TV There’s a monkey on the TV In a funny hat and coat I think I’d like to turn him off But I can’t find the remote I saw a poodle with a ribbon Walking behind my car If I shifted in reverse Would that be too far? Human beings are human And other creatures not so with this cute cross-dressing We soon will lose the plot. Hey now alligator boots, They look pretty cute But If you met one on the highway I’d guess you’d have to shoot Or lambs in fluffy jammies Gamboling ‘round a field I’d like one in the kitchen To help me make a meal Human beings …… A primate with a comb over And a dog in bows look quaint You might think that they look cute But in time you’ll see they aint So leave ‘em out in nature Not dressed like you or me Or The Planet of the Apes Will be reality! Human beings …… If we dress to look like animals In fur, pelt and pigskin What’s to say we could become The creature that we’re in. And then the animals we dress up To look just like we do Could take a leaf from humankind And put us in a zoo! Human beings are human And other creatures not So with this cute cross-dressing We soon will lose the plot. Words & music by Tony Floyd Kenna & Geoff Bennett.

Songs From The Furnace Of Life - Tony Floyd Kenna & Friends.

In September 2012 I released 'All The Colours', a double album which collected solo songs of the previous year and a sort of 'best of Wanman & Floyd' together with some of my own solo blues rock tracks of the previous few years. In the old days it could have split very comfortably into four sides of a double vinyl LP set, each side representing a different colour, a different part of my musical journey. I believe it marked a moment in time and cleared the decks to look afresh at the next project.

The day after taking delivery of the Colours CDs I met Brian Hardman in Dublin. Brian is a fellow MT member and has often been described as a wordsmith, by day Brian is also a blacksmith. The idea of the blacksmith's furnace and forge where both practical and artistic items are created by Brian, the wordsmith, got me thinking... 'Songs From The Furnace Of Life' was born. Rather than just a collection of songs it would embody a concept with a unifying thread running thru' all the tracks. Life, death, love, existence itself would be examined and reflected. 'Some colour snapshots from the journey'.

Over the next few weeks I noticed both at sessions and by feedback that some of the songs from colours were being taken on board and interpreted by fellow musicians and writers. I had another idea, put out a few quiet feelers and suddenly covers of some of the tracks started emerging. This set the scene for what has become Disc Two of the 'Furnace' album. It was a very natural evolution then for some of my co writing partnerships to also slot into this side of the project.
